This genre compilation is the result of a creative process that emerged in autumn 2007 around the Dark Ambient Radio stream (www.darkambientradio.de). It includes tracks by musicians from various countries, such as Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Germany, Moldova, Norway, and the US, all joined by the common passion for dark ambient music. This CD has been completely self-produced by the artists only with help from Thomas, the radio’s website admin, who found himself moderating and organizing the process, and Tobias alias Darknnoiz who created the cover artwork.

Low frequencies, deep atmospheres, layers of darkness. All this decorated with slow, wicked melodies. Music not usually coming from your radio, more likely coming from the abyss scorching inside a sick mind. But there is this place - Dark Ambient Radio. A place which provides with a shelter not only those who enjoy drowning their senses in dark soundscapes and atmospheres but also the ones who dare to create them.

And not only it gives a shelter to the dark ambient producers who lurk in this online community. It also gave them the chance to present their work to the world. So thirteen artists united, composed eleven tracks and created 70 minutes pure, dark ambient madness. In the first (and hopefully not last) volume of Dark Ambient Radio Compilation you'll be able to hear tracks by established artists such as Ah Cama-Sotz, Svartsinn, Dark Muse, Phelios and Stephen Parsick but you will also have the chance to discover the works of younger projects such as Nihil Communication, Nagual Art, Evoke Scurvee, Mytrip, All Sides, Megatone, Phobos and False Mirror.

❤️My original plan was to go through and buy individual tracks like I do with most compilation albums, but honestly there are just so many good ones that I wound up buying the whole thing. More than simple drones (though there are plenty of those, too), this album collects many of the best and most innovative dark ambient artists in one place, including many who are new to me. I am currently spending lots of my spare time with Cyberpunk 2077, and walking around Night City in the dark is one of my preferred activities. Introducing Beyond the Ghost. Don't get me wrong - this is far from being aggrotech or darkwave of sorts, but its dystopian, noir ambience is just an outrageously fitting musical accompaniment. Of course, this album can also be enjoyed on its own, undoubtbedly - but its futuristic, sometimes yet nostalgic soundscape helps me immerse deeper into the game. David Fischer
